Digital Realty is planning to build a gas power plant to power its DUB4 data center in Grange Castle Business Park, Dublin. The facility, which is located next to the company's DUB3 data center, cost an estimated €100 million ($117.3 million) to construct.

This decision comes after DUB4 was denied a grid connection, even after two appeals. However, in July 2025, the Irish government approved a new policy statement that will allow companies to build their own power plants, including those that run on fossil fuels, and install private electricity wires. The full details of this policy are expected to be released after the summer recess, with the law potentially coming into effect in the second quarter of 2026.
