Reports Suggest QTS Will Join Diode's Kansas City Data Center Facility

QTS may use a Diode Ventures data center in Kansas City, Missouri. In October, Diode signed two non-exclusive fiber easement with QTS Realty Trust Inc. to develop and maintain data transmission infrastructure at the site northeast of I-435 and Highway 169, according to BizJournal. Last year, Black & Veatch affiliate Diode Ventures proposed the Rocky Branch Creek Technology Park, a data center facility on 359 uninhabited acres northeast of US Highway 169 & Interstate 435 in Missouri. The company has boosted its ambitions to build up to 12 data center facilities in Kansas City's Northland, totalling 4.3 million square feet. Rocky Branch Creek will have a critical IT load of 215–220 MW and a full-site capacity of 270MW when completed. 

Lumen-owned Level 3 Communications LLC signed another non-exclusive fiber easement in the technological park in December. Rocky Branch Creek architect Corgan collaborated with QTS on five data center initiatives in Atlanta, Fort Worth, and Northern Virginia. QTS declined requests for comment. Due to confidentiality, Diode Ventures cannot disclose client information. 

The planned site is near Diode's Golden Plains Technology Park. Meta, which has major QTS agreements in Oregon, bought the 760-acre land. Diode is also considering Hampton Meadows, a smaller data center location on 30 acres it owns south of Golden Plains between I-435 and Cookingham Drive, for a third campus. QTS has extensive development experience. The PW Gateway project includes an 800-acre site in Manassas and Project Excalibur, a 16-building, 6.6 million-square-foot facility in Fayetteville, Georgia.
