Amazon AWS is building a $11bn data center campus in Indiana. Amazon acquired more than 600 acres of agricultural land around New Carlisle in St. Joseph County in 2023 using the shell company Razor5.
- Amazon has secured a number of tax breaks for the campus. The Indiana Economic Development Corporation (IEDC) is offering AWS data center sales tax exemptions for eligible capital investments over a 50-year term.
- AWS had originally planned to complete four 216,000-square-foot buildings by the end of 2024, with operations beginning in Q1 2025. However, the project is currently awaiting environmental review.
