Microsoft DUB12 is one of four identical single-storey data centres that Microsoft won permission for in June 2016: DUB09, DUB10, DUB12 and DUB13. They form the western block of Microsoft's second Grange Castle campus in Clondalkin, west Dublin. DUB12 sits between DUB10 and DUB13.
Construction began in August 2016. Each building covers about 17,598 m² (189,400 sq ft). DUB09, DUB10 and DUB12 were complete and operating by November 2020. Microsoft won permission in 2021 to add solar PV panels to the DUB12 roof.
Cooling
Rooftop air handling units cool the data halls with outside air. Evaporative cooling supports them on the hottest days.
Utility
ESB Networks serves the campus from the Kilmahud 110 kV customer substation on site. EirGrid operates the transmission system. No behind-the-meter generation serves DUB12.
Backup Power
Twelve standby generators back up the data halls, with a separate admin generator. Microsoft converted the campus generators from diesel to hydrotreated vegetable oil (HVO) in 2023 and 2024.
Campus
Microsoft runs twelve data centres at Grange Castle, from DUB03 (2009) to DUB15, plus the stand-alone DUB11.
