Microsoft DUB08 is one of a pair of identical single-storey data centres, with DUB07, on Microsoft's second Grange Castle campus in Clondalkin, west Dublin. It sits south of DUB07.
Microsoft won permission for both buildings in February 2016. Each covers about 16,900 m² (181,900 sq ft). Construction was under way in October 2017, and both buildings were running by 2019.
In late 2017, Microsoft won a three-year permission for a temporary gas generation compound to power DUB08 while the local grid was upgraded. The compound was sited on land that DUB12 now occupies.
Cooling
Rooftop air handling units cool the data halls with outside air. Evaporative cooling supports them on the hottest days.
Utility
ESB Networks serves the campus from the Kilmahud 110 kV customer substation on site. EirGrid operates the transmission system. No behind-the-meter generation serves DUB08 today.
Backup Power
Fifteen standby generators back up the data halls, with a separate admin generator. Microsoft converted the campus generators from diesel to hydrotreated vegetable oil (HVO) in 2023 and 2024.
Campus
Microsoft runs twelve data centres at Grange Castle, from DUB03 (2009) to DUB15, plus the stand-alone DUB11.
