Amazon Web Services (AWS) is moving forward with its $205 million data center project in Chile. This campus represents the first facility built by Amazon’s cloud platform in the South American country.

The project is located on an 18.7-hectare site in Santiago's Padre Hurtado district, and the first building is already online. This initial stage encompasses a 4,630 square meter (49,835 sq ft) data center.

The campus will also include 12 diesel backup generators, along with low-water consumption air conditioning, cooling, and fire control systems. A second data center building, scheduled for 2028, will extend the total space by an additional 3,470 square meters (37,350 sq ft).
